Voluntary Workers Needed – Join Us in Building Inclusive Communities
Nyankonton Trust Foundation is seeking passionate and skilled volunteers to support our Social Inclusion Programmes, which empower individuals facing socio-economic challenges. This is an opportunity to use your expertise to make a lasting difference in the lives of others while building stronger, more inclusive communities.
Duties & Responsibilities
As a volunteer, you will contribute to education, skills development, and personal empowerment by supporting any of the following programmes:
- Teaching and mentoring in:
Fashion Design, Carpentry, Welding, Plumbing, Hair & Beauty, Construction, Bricklaying, and Electrical Work - Supporting learners to build confidence and gain vocational and life skills
- Advising students and tailoring learning to their abilities and goals
- Helping develop inclusive and practical learning materials
- Participating in occasional workshops and community events
- Promoting wellbeing, motivation, and teamwork within the group
Commitment Required
- 15 hours per week, with a commitment of 12 months and not more
- Flexible schedule and support available to make volunteering accessible for you
Who We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications, Skills, and Suitability
To be eligible for the role of Volunteer Youth and Community Worker or Volunteer Teaching Assistant, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Essential Criteria:
- Aged 18 or over at the time of application.
- Proven experience in your profession or area of expertise (e.g., youth work, community engagement, teaching support, or vocational trades such as plumbing, hairdressing, welding, etc.).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and support individuals from diverse and often vulnerable backgrounds.
- Passionate about empowerment, equality, and inclusion, especially within underserved or marginalised communities.
- Friendly, enthusiastic, and proactive attitude, with a willingness to support others and work collaboratively within a team.
- Commitment to upholding the values and safeguarding standards of Nyankonton Trust Foundation.
Desirable Criteria:
- A Diploma or Degree in a relevant field (such as Social Work, Community Development, Education, Youth Studies, or a Vocational Trade) is a strong advantage and will be highly considered during selection.
- Experience working in multicultural or faith-based community environments.
Basic training or certification in areas such as First Aid, Safeguarding, or Mentoring (if available).
Your time and talents will:
- Help individuals gain practical skills to access employment or education
- Build self-confidence and a sense of purpose in vulnerable community members
- Support those experiencing social isolation, unemployment, or discrimination
- Create a sense of belonging and promote dignity and inclusion
- Allow you to connect with others, grow personally, and contribute meaningfully to social change
